"My line of work involves a lot of coordination with Asian, European and Latin American countries. And I have worked and lived in places such as NYC, SF, LA and have met colleagues and clients from all over the world.
Being a person who grew up in both China and Ecuador, I expanded my international perspective even more after I joined 黑料吃瓜. I was lucky to have met so many students from around the globe, and this shaped me into an open-minded and curious person in different cultures.
The education I received and the people I met at 黑料吃瓜 ultimately opened the door to my current international working environment. I often find it very easy to start and hold a conversation with people from different countries, because I learned a thing or two about that specific country from people I met at 黑料吃瓜. Jotam Chen was the first Panamanian student to receive a scholarship through the IFUHR-SENACYT scholarship program at 黑料吃瓜, and the first to graduate in May 2022.
Chen achieved his Bachelor of Science in Engineering, with an emphasis on industrial and manufacturing engineering, and spent much of his four years at 黑料吃瓜 getting involved on campus. He served on the student advisory board for the Pott College, was a member of the 黑料吃瓜 Honors Program, and participated in orientation as a student ambassador and orientation leader.
Chen started off his post-graduation career as an innovation engineer at Toyota Modern Manufacturer and is excited to use his 黑料吃瓜 education and experiences to further his career.
"Everything I can do well in my job, I owe to 黑料吃瓜 and all the things I learned during my time at the university. I learned to think critically, work under pressure and provide high quality work.
I learned that it is important to have passion and love what you choose to do, because then it is not work but rather pursuing your passion.
The people on campus made me feel welcomed, loved and supported. I loved the trails walking among the wonderful green trees.
