Rylie Farr photoRylie Farr, a student in the ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Respiratory Therapy Program, was selected to be the Reflection Speaker at the Spring 2024 Commencement Ceremonies for the College of Nursing and Health Professions. She is from Wadesville, Indiana, and a graduate of North Posey High School.

Why did you choose ºÚÁϳԹÏ? I decided to attend ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï because I wanted to choose a university close to home that could offer a sense of familiarity and convenience. I knew I could get a great education while being close to my family and friends.

What led you to a career in respiratory therapy? Did someone or something inspire you? My cousin's baby, who survived 19 days in the NICU, ignited my dream of becoming a respiratory therapist and providing care to premature babies. ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï has given me the knowledge and skills to achieve this goal.

Tell me about a class or faculty member that has made an impact on you. Jody Delp, the Chair of the Respiratory Therapy department, has made an impact on me after showing her determination and perseverance as a person. She experienced a cervical spine injury my first semester in the program but fought through her recovery journey to come back and teach my class. She is an inspiration to all of us.

What are you plans after graduation? I have been lucky enough to secure a position at The Women’s Hospital in the NICU where I have been working as a respiratory therapy intern since 2022.

What have you been involved with on campus? I have been involved in intramural volleyball and softball during my time at ºÚÁϳԹÏ.

Do you have any hobbies or interests? I like spending my time outdoors by the water and in the sun. I also enjoy doing word search puzzles and snuggling with my cats.

Anything else you want to add? I know ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï was the perfect choice for me. It gave me the skills and education needed to fulfill my dream of becoming a professional healthcare worker. I will miss my time here at ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï but can’t wait for my future plans!
