In the Biometrix Discovery Lab, we're focused on providing opportunities to students, businesses and researchers by combining faculty expertise with cutting edge technology. 

Located in the Romain College of Business at the ºÚÁϳԹÏ, this state-of-the-art facility uses high-level technology to conduct research on decision making by measuring human attention, arousal, cognition and emotion. 

Faculty are experts with technology such as:

  • Electrodermal Activity

From helping students get the most of their college experience to partnering with various companies and organizations, this facility is focused on engaging the community.

Decoding Care

The Biometrix Discovery Lab has partnered with the ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï College of Nursing and Health Professions to revolutionize healthcare education by integrating facial expression analysis into occupational therapy training. Students conduct virtual interviews with standardized patients, receiving real-time feedback on their displayed emotions—such as joy, sadness, or fear—and how these expressions influence patient responses.

The ºÚÁϳԹϒs Biometrix Discovery Lab partnered with The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis on a wayfinding study. With the lab's eye-tracking glasses and technology, the goal of this partnership was to provide the museum with insights that could help them evaluate their current wayfinding efforts and signage at various places throughout the Museum.

From Research to Doctorate

Senior Administrative Associate Tina McCalment earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership-Pedagogical Leadership Specialization using high-level technology of the Biometrix Discovery Lab to collect and analyze quantitative data in her study of the Evansville Museum of Arts, History & Science. Visitors who participated wore the mobile eye-tracking glasses, which recorded how they moved throughout the gallery and what they focused on.
